Bumblebee "Jasper" was only just identified in the late 1990s in Indonesia, it is a composite mineral. It is not however a true jasper as it does not contain any quartz. It is actually a sedimentary rock. It is a very porous mineral that forms in volcanic fumarole environments. This layered multicolored rock is cemented together by carbonite minerals. It only has a hardness of 4, meaning that it can crumble when tumbling or carving. This makes it harder to find decent carvings made of this rock in any medium or large sizes. We were so pleased when these dragons turned out as good as they did!! We are so excited to share them with you!
