Banishing Practices - Taking Your Home Back!

*Originally written for someone who was living in a house with dense, negative energy, potentially "Demonic" activity back in Rural North Dakota.

Self Care & Protection

It's when we lack caring for ourselves, and perhaps not caring for our environment, that negative energies are allowed to enter our space. It's important that you set yourself as the number 1 priority.

Visualization
Close your eyes and imagine a powerful and brilliant white light streaming down, enveloping your entire being. Breathe in the light and upon exhale, imagine all your negative thoughts, feelings, and emotions are being sent out of your body through your breath. Image these negative energies completely disappearing as the light penetrates them. After you feel as though you have removed the negativity, open your eyes and choose an affirmation below and read it out loud 3 times.

Visualization Affirmations:
"I am able to release my fears and trust that I am always safe"
"I invite peace, love, and balance into my sacred space"
"I remove all energetic ties that no longer serve me"

Bathing
Bathing has been considered a sacred ceremony by most cultures and dating back as far as we have been able to decipher. Unlike a regular bath where we use soap, shampoo and water that cleanse the body, a spiritual bath works to cleanse the mind and spirit. We use ingredients that charge the bathwater with healing vibrations that help you remove blockages, hurts, pains and situations that are no longer serving you in any constructive way.

Step 1: Scrub the bathtub thoroughly first to make sure it is really clean.
Step 2: Set a mental intention that this time is totally yours and you will not be disturbed by texts, phone calls or visitors for the next hour or so.
Step 3: Take a quick shower and clean yourself first. Remember that no soaps or other cleansing agents can be used during a spiritual bath.
Step 4: Fill the bathtub with water at a temperature that feels most comfortable.
As the tub is filling up, gather all the ingredients you need (ingredients are given below). You may want to light an incense stick, a few candles, or play some soothing music – anything that will relax your mind into a calm, meditative state. Release the tensions of the day, like you would in a spa, and focus on just enjoying yourself.
Step 5: Step into the bath and soak for about 20-30 minutes. As you relax in the water, clear your mind of all unwelcome thoughts and focus on your intention to let go of all stress and negativity. There is no right or wrong way to do this – as long as you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself.
Step 6: Spiritual baths are strong, and therefore you should not overdo them. Twice a month should be more than sufficient to start. Your inner guidance will let you know if you need more.

Baking Soda:
Bicarbonate of soda, or baking soda, helps to clean negative debris from your aura, and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth as well.

Camphor:
Camphor, cinnamomum camphora, is an oil extracted from the Camphor tree, a close relative of cinnamon.
The sacred plant has long been treasured for it's healing powers, revered in many cultures through India and Asia. As per the ancient Indian scripture and holy text, Camphor symbolizes a strong connection with the sacred and celestial. When burnt or diffused, Camphor releases fumes that signify becoming pure with the help of the divine.
*there are so many additions you can make to your bath… I am only speaking to the 2 most accessible

Bathing Affirmations:
"I am divinely protected at all times and in all ways"
"I nourish myself and am nourished by the Universe"
"I let go of all anxiety"

House Protection

Ok, so here is the Nitty Gritty on dealing with high frequency negative energy. Ultimately, we are dealing with other dimensions that overlap or there is a portal that allows interdimensional energy bodies to share time and space in our reality. There are many scenarios, but some that I am aware of are: Sometimes spirits exist due to the land and trauma that has happened on that land. Sometimes our locations may be "Spiritual Highways or Ley Lines" so to speak, where you have spirits coming and going through your environment. Personal attachments, can be caused by a variety of reasons such as Ouija Boards or other improperly executed attempts at communication with the spirit world…. And so on.

Salt

Salt is the common name for the mineral halite (NaCl, sodium chloride), a combination of the metal sodium and chloride, an ion related to the gas chlorine.  The name comes from the Greek halos “salt, sea” and the suffix “ite”, derived from the Greek lithos, “stone”  It is pronounced “hay-light”.

The scientific reason for its metaphysical use is because of its unique ability to transmit electricity.  It is one of the strongest conductors known to man, and that is one of the main uses that the body has for various salts.

Salt purifies and removes negative and stagnate energy. Personally I have noticed when I use too much salt, it can dissipate some of my own positive energy, so be sparing with it.

Before you do a complete house and property cleansing, I recommend  that you find little Tupperware bowls or small containers and put sea salt into each bowl. Set one by the front door and one in the center of each room. Let it sit for a few hours and then take the bowls and dump the salt into 1 container and throw it into the street to symbolize that the energy will move on down the road.

You can also sprinkle salt in the 4 corners of the room and then vacuum or sweep it up after a couple hours.

Salting Affirmations:

"I place this salt to remove all negative energy and cleanse this space"

"I invite this salt to initiate balance into my sacred space"

"With this salt I remove all energetic ties to this sacred space that no longer serve us"

Smudging

The ritual of burning plant resins and herbs in a shell or a stone vessel while calling forth intentions and prayers is called smudging. It works as the smoke rises along with the prayers to mother earth, father sky, to the sun and the moon, to the plants, the animals and the water. Burning - sage, cedar, sweetgrass and palo santo - is to have a connection to the sacred realms between the earth and spirit.

Sage is leveraged for clearing negative energy and science is catching up to sage's potential as a healing herb. Traditionally, people use an abalone shell to hold the sage and then use a feather to fan and spread the smoke around the space once the sage or other herbs is burning,

What you need:

 • A vessel for burning sage

 • Sage

 • A fire source (such as a long match, or candle)

 • A fanning tool (not completely necessary but could be helpful if you need to cover a large area such as a home or office)

What to do:

 1. Allow an exit strategy for the negative energy, open necessary windows and doors. We will be wafting the negative energy out of the house.

 2. Set your intention. What I mean by this is Intentions are central to the practice of smudging, so take a moment before you light the sage to determine what exactly it is that you're trying to purify or release from your space.

 3. Light it up!

 4. Smudge yourself first, wafting the smoke around the face and the crown of your head, then your chest/heart and making your way down to your feet.

 5. Begin walking around the house, giving special attention to areas in front of mirrors, in corners, and in spaces like foyers, hallways, and doorways. Wave the smoke until every nook and cranny of the space has been smudged.

State your intention and affirmation in each room.

Smudging  Affirmations:

"I am able to release my fears and trust that I am always safe"

"I invite peace, love, and balance into my sacred space"

"I remove all energetic ties that no longer serve me"

Paying homage

I believe that if we really want to be protected in our space, we need to rely on our guides, ancestors, and totems. Gratitude is key… Find a space in your house, preferably in the center of the home. Have just a spot where you lay gifts, could be a flower, fruit, tobacco, rum, coins, burn candles, incense, while giving thanks for all the support that they give us each day. You could have a picture of an ancestor or other items of significance to you. I recommend having some Rose Quartz in this location as a crystal of love and guidance. Other Crystals to consider for protection: Tourmaline, Shungite, Smoky Quartz, Selenite, and Charoite.

Paying Homage Affirmations:

"Guides and Ancestors, we give our gratitude for your support and guidance."

"My enlightened ancestors, guides, healers, and fierce protectors, Please stand with me, be with me in this moment. We honor you."

Room Grids

This is when we leverage crystals by putting them into a grid pattern, (ie. The corners of  a room).

Start by placing Tourmaline and Selenite in the 4 corners of your house and garage. *Note - You will need to place it in areas that are indoor and will not get wet, due to the fragility of Selenite.

Once you have the crystals in their place, use a wand or an item to point in the direction of the first set of crystals, I typically use my prayer feather wand. Then move the pointed wand clockwise to the next set of Crystals, and continue this until you are back at the first set. As you move around imagine a giant protective dome of beautiful white light form around the house and say the affirmation below.

Grid Sealing Affirmations:

"I seal this sacred space with love, light, and protection."

Repeat this process in your garage or other structures on the property, where you want extra energy protection.

You can then form smaller room grids for areas that are harboring the most negative energy, ie. bedroom, hallways, any area that needs additional cleansing and ongoing protection. Follow the same process as above.

Make sure to add other crystals as necessary for including additional energetic properties to your space.

I recommend sealing on the New and Full Moon, or twice a month.

Perimeter Protection

For Perimeter protection, I leave it up to the higher realm… I leverage Archangel Michael and will bury 4 medallions in each corner of the property. As I bury them I say the affirmation below.

Perimeter Protection Affirmations:

"I call for aid at this time… Archangel Michael, Please provide the necessary protections on this home and property. Protect all those that enter with love. Protect us from the negative and unseen."
